Let's Play: "Thanks for That!"

Okay, here's the game. All you need to do is tell us of someone who has done some small good deed. It can be something that may have appeared to have gone unnoticed. :) You can submit up to 3 people...I'll put their names in a bowl and draw a name. The name drawn will get a gift card from me, and I'll let them know that you nominated them for the "Thanks for That!" Award.

I love letters... letters in the mail. We live in the day of technology and instant communication, and proof of that is the fact that I am currently commenting on this blog. However, I often have little soap box sessions about how I think letters are so wonderful and timeless. Last week, I received a letter in the mail from a friend, written out on a couple of sheets of notebook paper. It may seem small and silly, but it really did make my day. I rarely receive letters anymore and it was such a fun surprise. So I nominate a "thanks for that" to Kristi Zobrist (Daniel).

This is such a fun game, Tami!

I'm going to nominate Leah for being such a great Aunt! She helped me out in church with Emitt Sunday and even put him to sleep - which is a RARE happening on Sundays. Thanks, Leah!

Great game Tami!

I am going to nominate Heidi. Back in May I was telling my Bible study girls that I wanted to make a nice dinner for Michael & my anniversary but our budget was not providing for it. Heidi insisted I come over and take all over her chocolate (white chocolate, milk chocolate & semi sweet squares) and her fondue cookbook and make a fun fondue dessert. She was so gracious and thoughtful in helping me! She gave us probably about 5 pounds of various chocolate, some potaotes to go with our dinner and a few treats to dip in our fondue. She is one of the most selfless people I know and I aprreciate her friendship so much! Love you Heidi! Thanks for saving my dinner!!

I wish to nominate Sarah (my wife) for marrying me, an insurance agent. Can you imagine living in the same house as someone, who sees everything as an insurance claim waiting to happen. Yea, I'm pretty rational.

So thanks Sarah for being willing to put up with me!! She also puts up with my yodeling; however, she did know this before we were married. :)

I nominate the great Aunt Leslie. This week alone she is watching my kids 3 (yes that's right 3 times). (Even when it means missing plans with another great Aunt Tami!) Although this is more than normal, she does it without pay, unless you count free meals as pay, which as I think about it, should count for something! :)
So Leslie, "thanks for that."

dearest megan...i tried my best to be mad at you and kory for taking leslie on sunday, but alas, i simply could not deny how much i like both of you, and my thoughts of anger kept turning to thoughts of joy despite how hard i tried to think bitterly towards you. :)

I nominate my sister-in-law ~ Sara S.

She OFFERS to watch my kids - expecting nothing in return (this includes picking them up and dropping them off). She has helped out tremendously during this pregnancy, the task of finishing the basement, and the busy times of photography. The other day she even dropped off a meal when dropping off the kids. She is such a dream.

Landon and Elle just love Aunt Sara's house!

I already nominated one person but I thought of another one... :)

My second nominee is my hubby, Michael. Last night I had a fundraiser that I was selling my watches at out of town. My original plan was to drop the boys off at a friends house mid-afternoon until Michael got off work. But Levi got a nasty cold 2 days ago and I didn't want to get my friend's kids sick. So Michael sweetly volunteered to take a few hours off of work, without pay (he's all out of vacation time) to watch the boys so I could work. I know he didn't really have a choice because he was my only other option but it still meant a lot to me. But he had a great attitude and made me feel like my teeny tiny business was important and that my work was worthwhile. So I want to say "thanks for that" Honey! You made my day and made me feel valued!

I would also like to nominate Leslie! She is an amazing sister and is always willing to help out. That is appreciated more than words can say. I love you Leslie!! :) I love you too Tam! :)

I would also like to nominate my sister-in-law Sara S. She graciously watched Amy during my brother's wedding on Sunday and then OFFERED to take both of our nap deprived, cranky kids home with them from the reception so Duane and I could enjoy the rest of the day! She was a true sanity saver! Thanks for that, Sara!

Not to be forgotten, I'm also going to nominate my other sister-in-law Denise, who watched our kids from morning until late at night on Saturday. She truly makes having a house full of kids look easy! Our girls love going there! So Denise (and Trace - who I'm sure was a big help!), thanks for that!

Okay, I'm just going to use all 3 of my nominations on my sisters-in-law!! Sharon O'Shea invited me and the girls over the other day for lunch and to let the kids play. She figured I was getting stir-crazy with the kids since Duane has been working late during harvest. What a breath of fresh air to be able to talk to another adult! and have my kids entertained by other kids! So Sharon, thanks so much for that!

These have been soooo great to read! I thought I'd put in my nominations as well...
I know I always say my sisters, but seriously, Rebekah and Heidi brought their kids over to my place and we scowerd the house and cleaned it from top to bottom before my dad came. Heidi took his truck and cleaned it all out and filled up the tank...all so he would be really happy when he got home and so he and i could have a nice time instead of being stressed that he was going to think the house was messy!!! Thank you two for that soooo much!!!

My other nomination goes to my brother-in-law matt. He came over not that long ago to change my tire, he mowed our lawn all through the summer, and this weekend, I've been having problems with my car battery...so last night, he came and met me at a gas station (where my car had died) and jumped the car for me and offerd to take my crazy car that's always breaking down so I could take his. He's a very thoughtful guy, so thanks for that, matt-a-tat.
