Hero of the Week: Stephen Baldwin

I've been so anxious to post this hero!...

Stephen Baldwin (actor) is being named "hero" this week for his strong faith in Jesus Christ. This is the first time a celebrity is being named hero on my blog, but I really think Mr. Baldwin deserves this one! I did not realize this, but he is a very strong, born again Christian. He became a Christian 5 years ago after having watched his wife give her life to Jesus and being in amazement at how her life changed.

Stephen was on the Jimmy Kimmel live show and talked about his faith in Jesus Christ. When asked, he even stated that he doesn't have a TV (insinuating it was because of the content on TV). He joked that he's only seen a couple episodes of his brother Alec's "30Rock" show...and laughed that it's because it's a little naughty. He wasn't sure of the name of his other brother's show "Dirty Sexy Money"...which to say it's an extremely liberal show would be a huge understatement!

He wrote this New York Times best seller The Unusual Suspect...I have not read it, but from the reviews, it sounds like he talks extensively about his faith in Jesus. Jimmy Kimmel asked if he and his brother, Alec Baldwin, but heads when in comes to politics since they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Stephen said, "Um, yeah!!! A little bit!!!" He stated that he is supporting Huckabee because of his strong faith and committment on morality.

I was very impressed with Mr. Baldwin and cannot imagine the heat one could get in Hollywood for being so strong on his faith. I'm also so thankful for his wife and that she accepted God's grace and gave her life to Christ even though it sounds as though Stephen was very cynical at first. It was her example that God worked through to bring Mr. Baldwin to Himself.

So, here's to you, Mr. Baldwin. Thanks for your example and willingness to speak out for Jesus!

Hey Tam,
I knew that he was a strong Christian but I didn't realize that it was just in the past 5 years! He must feel like an odd duck in his family...Alec is like the opposite extreme not only potlitically but in his family life too!

We need to pray for those in these limelight positions that they can stay true to Christ and hopefully cause others to thirst for Christ too!

Thanks for the post!

love,
bek

Tami,
I had no idea he was a christian, until just this past week. I was flipping channels on the tv and came across The Apprentice which this season is all Celebs. It happen to be the "your fired part" and Stephen was talking about his faith and how he was a born again christian.....I about fell off my chair. Needless to say I kept watching it until it was over(another 10 minutes) or so. But anyway, I was so excited to know that at least there are a few celebs that have their Faith and proclaim it:)

I've also heard him proclaim faith on the Apprentice. What a rarity but SO cool! :)
