I love all the Christmas traditions! Keep posting!

Kristy...when i think of you listening to your music, now all I can think of you "perspiring by the fire". :)

Megan..I just heard of my coworker that does the PJ tradition! How fun...I may need to start that for myself...a good reason to buy something new for myself, eh? what was that? christmas is supposed to be a selfless season? oops!

Amber, speaking of your ornaments...it makes me think of the ornaments that grandpa maibach gets you each year! those are gorgeous. for those of you who don't know, her grandpa gets her beautiful snowflake ornaments. what a fun tradition...my mom had the same tradition as you (buying an ornament to represent the year), and i'll tell you, your kids will treasure those, especially if you're gone!

Brooke, your conversation with andy cracked me up! i think stocking stuffers are usually some of the best gift...i truly believe that some of the best gifts are in the stockings!

Wendy, I was to see your tradition! actually, i'm picturing it in my head, and I'm sure it's not only really cute but hilarious! That is one of the most unique traditions that I've heard and it's SO fun! Go Kirk!

Shar...yours made me want to snuggle up at a huber christmas. what a cozy setting...we're like you. I don't ever remember opening presents while the sun was still up...the cozier the better, right? And yes, I would definitely help you come up with a heading for your blog if you wanted help! I'm honored that you asked me! :)

Mindy...the blazing fire is so funny! I kind of want to ask you for the cookie recipe, but i'm HORRIBLE at baking, so I will pass, but it sounds so fun! I'm sure Michael loves the tradition. :)

Bek, the mental picture of Doozer is just so funny. What a crazy gal that girlfriend is. :) no wonder the neighbors love you more than me. :)

Jonathan, i know what you mean about not feeling like Christmas when it's like summer. Celebrating the new years there was somewhat of an adjustment. So, I guess your Christmas tradition is to not have any traditions! :) i thought you would maybe say something about the Gaithers or Cathedrals!

Alesa, your story cracked me up!!! that was hilarious and sooo funny to picture you sucking on all the candy canes! hilarious!!!!

Sandra and Marie...I should get your fondu recipes. I just bought a fondu pot this year and want to make some good eatin's!!!

  • Sandra, I think it's cute that you let your little guys sit on the table! I bet they love that!!!

  • Marie, I feel terrible to say this but I didn't know you ever lived in Oregon and that they call it evening meal...I think in the south they call lunch dinner and the "evening meal" supper. Or maybe I'm confused!

Jessica, you sound like you're going to have such a fun Christmas season!!! I'm so impressed with your holiday activities! Leave it to you to have such creative ideas!

Sarah, your game sounds kind of complicated! All those points...I would have been confused, but it sounds fun nonetheless. It's so cute how kids think!

Haley, it was fun to see pictures of your "indoor snowman" on your blog! It would be fun to see your gumdrop tree!

Heidi...i always love listening to that story of kenny! it never gets old...what a crazy guy! your cookie decorating tradition always sounds so fun! i can just see jarod having a blast eating all his and your cookies and then cussing himself that he ate too many and now feels sick! :)

I will take the time next week to type up my recipes and maybe even blog the idea. :) And consider yourself invited to our home Christmas eve! I know--you have plans but it would be fun--maybe sometime we should invite you and your sisters up here and make an evening out of it! Does that sound fun?

Marie, I would love to go hang out with you and your family! Yes, we have our Christmas on Christmas eve and then I have to work that night! Isn't that depressing?...but it sounds fun to hang out with you and your fam!

Janet, i would definitely mail overseas!!! :) maybe you would have more kids if we came and visited you in india again...just kidding! couldn't resist giving you a hard time. :)

Hi Tami! I know I am late in responding on the Christmas traditions but Andy and Jill will tell you that I am always wanting to have traditions but then forget what tradition I was going to stick to. We do have one with my family that we have been doing for about 11 years. We have our Christmas and all stay overnight. My brother Dean makes a "mean" breakfast in the morning and imitates Mel from Mel's diner. (He seems to look more and more like Mel!). You probably are too young to remember who that was but he owned a restaurant on a TV program years ago. After breakfast we all go home. We have so much fun and so many laughs. We started doing this at my Mom's duplex at the Nursing Home but now as family has expanded we go to my brother's house.

With grandkids I love having them come excited to Grandpa and Grandma's. It makes me remember the excitment I had as a kid. We watch a movie together called Alabaster's song. With little kids we cannot expect it to be too much of a routine. It is challenging to keep the "menfolk" awake during the "traditional" movie!!

Thanks for your blog...it is so fun to read.

Love you lots!! Marcia B.

Tami, I have been totally out of touch with the blogging world and am just now catching up on your fun posts. Daniel and I don't really have any big traditions yet. One that I have from growing up is on Christmas eve, my mom would make a candlelit dinner and we would get dressed up to come to the table. I remember my siblings thinking it was cheesy as they got older, but I always wanted to do it. One year, Keri and I received magnetic earrings as a gift and we wore them to the candlelit dinner. After dinner we discovered that one of us had lost them in the stuffing of the cornish hens. Still not sure how all that happened, but it was funny, nonetheless.

Tami, I don't know if I am too late to post a traditions comment or not, but I'll post anyway. We have started the tradition of going out for breakfast as a family on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and then going to pick out our Christmas tree after that. Its a fun way to get into the holiday spirit!
